2011 Biennial Awards

The Biennial Awards, which recognize excellence in defined areas of ministry, will be announced by American Baptist Home Mission Societies* at the 2011 American Baptist Churches USA Biennial in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

*Except Mowbray which is awarded by ABCUSA.
Each award has specific criteria. To review the criteria for an award, click on the name of the award.

The following two awards are presented to an individual or church; an organization other than a church may be also nominated for the Religious Freedom Award:

Edwin T. Dahlberg Peace Award – for outstanding peace work by an individual or church
Religious Freedom Award – for leadership in defending God-given religious liberty for all by an individual, church or organization

The following awards are presented to individuals:

Kenneth L. Cober Regional Discipleship Award – for Christian education at the regional level
Richard Hoiland Local Christian Education Award – for educational programs in local church or wider community
Luther Wesley Smith Education Award – for educational programs in college or seminary
Newton C. Fetter Higher Education and Campus Ministry Award – for campus ministry
Rosa O. Hall Rural and Small Town Award – for a pastor in rural or small town ministry
Edward H. Rhoades Urban Ministry Award – for a pastor in urban ministry
Jitsuo Morikawa Evangelism Award – for a layperson for leadership in holistic evangelism
Luke Mowbray Ecumenical Award – for ecumenical work at the local, state, national or international level (awarded by ABCUSA).
