Caring Ministries Creating Communities
Every day across the nation thousands of children, elders and differently abled adults are cared for in the name of Christ as a ministry of American Baptists. Through retirement communities, health centers, affordable housing, children's homes, adult day care, foster care, and special needs centers, American Baptists are building the body of Christ.
An Association of Faith-Based Ministries
This is the work of American Baptist Homes and Caring Ministries. Related to National Ministries since 1940, ABHCM has sought to strengthen relationships among its members and to promote a philosophy of faith-based mission. ABHCM's 128 member communities and organizations are located in every region of the country. For years they have partnered with American Baptist churches at the local and national level to create innovative ministries across a broad spectrum of care.
A Vision for the Future
The work of ABHCM's members is needed now more than ever. As the population ages and the needs of children and families become more pronounced, existing caring ministries are expanding and new ones are being created. ABHCM's role is to connect these ministries with the wider American Baptist family, to develop new leadership, and to advocate for greater resources and new endeavors. Children, youth, elders and persons with disabilities -- ABHCM believes we are all one in the body of Christ.
