As of February 2008, street signs are in place. 

Sewer and electric are ready to go. 

Next to come are foundations and of course more than 200 American Baptist volunteers.

The foundations are poured and marked, wall sections and roof trusses delivered.  The first five sites are ready to go.

The day began with the blessing of the walls. The House and Crew leaders washed their hands as the homeowners watched.

The task list is back!

Most of the day was spent preparing for and raising roof trusses. First one roof, then another, and another and yet still one more.

Those volunteers not working with the roof trusses were busy preparing to install the windows.

By days end, roof trusses have been installed on four of the five houses.

Friday was another day dedicated to working on the roof…

Two homes had bathtubs, hot water heaters and some copper piping installed by the end of the day. This is the first of the contractor work.

Because of thunderstorms late Friday night and early Saturday morning, much work wasn’t done on the five homes, but dedicated volunteers were able to lay the sod on several new homes.

Contractors were busy preparing the new lots. On Monday, May 12th we will continue building five homes and begin the remaining homes.

The day began with the blessing of the walls for the new homes and the washing of hands, then meeting homeowners.

Work continued on the first five homes, siding and caulking in preparation for insulation.

Volunteers erected the exterior and interior walls of two new homes.

Work continues! 

Tuesday was a day for hardy board installation as well as continuing to raise the exterior and interior walls and then roof trusses. 

We continued to installed hardy boards working on the exterior and interior walls and roof trusses.

By end of day, one home is ready for the roofing tiles and hardy board.  The other home is not far behind.

All is quiet Thursday morning as the area is under a tornado watch.  Not much happening but the rain drops.

All though it was a wet day, volunteers had fun.  

There was still lots to do indoors and out.

What a glorious day!

During the morning hours, volunteers were busy working on roofs, caulking and painting.

The Build ended as volunteers and homeowners anointed each home and slab with prayer.

Dr. Wright-Riggins receives a plaque of appreciation from Habitat for Humanity of Greater Baton Rouge.

Following lunch there was a time of celebration for a job well done! 

Various gifts were presented tothe homeowners. Dr. Wright-Riggins presented a Judson Press Bible to each homeowner.
