Telling The Story Of Our Name
A New Logo
Along with its name―reaffirmed from a centuries-long history of mission and ministry—American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) has launched a new logo. This contemporary interpretation of the cross of Jesus Christ―a symbol of God’s sacrificial love and promise of redemption―firmly grounds ABHMS in God’s Good News. The three colors in the crosspiece, which evoke the trinity, represent the diversity of ABHMS. The blue suggests the oceans that border our mission field; the green reminds us of the gift of life that pulses through God’s earth as well as each of God’s children. The motion of the wave in the crosspiece reminds us of the movement of the Holy Spirit. The year 1824 is the founding date of the Baptist General Tract Society, the oldest of the threads that make up ABHMS.
