| From Visión 2001 to NUEVA VIDA 2010 |
In 1991, Hispanic American Baptists initiated Visión 2001 with goals of planting 100 new Hispanic churches and reaching 30,000 new believers.
Visión 2001 served as an impetus for NUEVA VIDA 2010--the American Baptist vision to plant 1,010 new churches,
reach 1,001,010 new Christians, reach out in a multitude of caring ministries--and so transform our congregations by the year 2010.
From 1995 to 1999, 40 percent of American Baptist church plants were Hispanic congregations.
As Hispanic American Baptists moved from Visión 2001 to commitment to NUEVA VIDA 2010, they have continued
to lead the denomination in planting churches. The new goal is to start 200 new Hispanic American Baptist congregations by 2010.
