Rivergate Community Church was a small
church struggling in North Portland, Ore. The
congregation was dwindling and resources
were scarce.
All that began to change when Pastor
Carren Woods attended the first meeting of an
experimental American Baptist Home Mission
Societies (ABHMS) initiative known as the
Missional Church Learning Experience
(MCLE), which helps churches look beyond
their own walls to focus on helping
neighborhoods and communities.
